The Geneva based manufacturer Vacheron Constantin, founded in 1755, is reinterpreting two calendar watches from 1942 and 1948.
Both watches are what we call a “useful” and “small” complication. The characteristic design is executed with codes reflecting those of the original models, but with a contemporary twist. The steel triple calendar timepiece and the 18 carat 4N pink gold triple calendar with moon phase version are now back in the spotlight. The 40 mm-diameter case is crafted in the Vacheron Constantin style featuring a number of character traits typical of the era, such as the distinctive “triple gadroon” caseband bearing “claw-type” lugs. The box-type glass, which by nature is slightly thicker, enables the use of an extremely slender bezel.
The 30 meters waterproof cases house fine contemporary watchmaking. The new complete calendar calibre is interpreted as reference 4400 QC and 4400 QCL for the moon-phase version (“L” for Lune, meaning moon in French). The balance-wheel oscillates at a frequency of 4 Hz or 28.800 A/h. It is a mechanical manual-winding movement, entirely developed and crafted by Vacheron Constantin offering a 65-hour power reserve thanks to its imposing barrel.
The Historiques Triple calendrier 1942 is inspired by the reference 4240 of which the first executions in yellow gold, pink gold or steel were introduced in the year 1942.
The Historiques Triple calendrier 1948 is inspired by the reference 4240L presented in the year 1948.
Whilst the Historiques Triple calendrier 1942 is not limited theHistoriques Triple calendrier 1948 is issued ia a series of 200 pieces each.
