Christoph Grainger-Herr, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen told me:

“Alexander, we will be presenting a full fleet of Pilot’s Watch novelties that exemplify our engineering prowess and our material expertise. Our new Spitfire line is made using exclusively IWC-manufactured calibres. In the new TOP GUN line, we are using Ceratanium® for the first time in a Pilot’s Watch, giving rise to a completely jet black double chronograph. Last but not least, our special editions honouring the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry novella Le Petit Prince demonstrate our top-flight skills in the field of haute horlogerie.”

Today I can only offer you a sneak preview.

These are the watches that are no longer embargoed…

Vacheron Constantin Fiftysix Tourbillon – a major horological complication in the collection

In January, at the SIHH 2018, Vacheron Constantin launched its Fiftysix-collection. Clearly inspired by the 1950s and positioned to attract a new and younger clientele. The look and style of the Fiftysix is a direct tribute to the reference 6073, a wristwatch created in 1956.

The Fiftysix-collection with so far a Self-winding, a Day-Date and a Complete Calendar model is now extended with the first major horological complication.

Jean-Claude Biver is no longer the CEO of the LVMH Watchmaking Division

Last week Jean-Claude Biver celebrated his 69th birthday and already days before I knew that he would announce something not really unexpected for me. Jean-Claude has a health issue and needs to take care of himself now. That’s more important than to serve LVMH. He needs time for himself and this is not possible when you are the CEO of the LVMH Watchmaking Division, the CEO of TAG Heuer and if you steer Zenith.

First I invite you to read the official LVMH announcement and then to listen to my taped 7:49 minutes comment.

Please let me know what you think and how you see the situation by posting your comment here underneath …

Besides the interview I filmed with Dr. Andreas Kaufmann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board and majority owner of Leica Camera AG, last week in Wetzlar at the Leica HQ this is your reliable source for more technical information.

Clear the stage for the Leica L1 and L2 wristwatches! Keep in mind, that both models are powered by a mechanical movement with manual winding, which has been newly developed.

The “Made in Germany” aspect is particularly important, hence Leica joined forces with Lehmann Präzision GmbH situated in Germanys’ Black Forest.
