The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon Jumping Date, Reference Q4202480, combines a prize-winning automatic tourbillon calibre with one of the most unusual pointer-date displays in contemporary watchmaking. Limited to 100 pieces, it is presented in a 42 mm pink-gold case with a deep-blue translucent enamel dial. In this WatchAdvisor video, Alexander together with Matthieu Sauret takes you exceptionally close to the watch in 4K, exploring its restructured Calibre 978, open-worked architecture, jumping date and independently adjustable 24-hour display. The defining moment occurs at midnight on the 15th of every month. Rather than moving the conventional short distance to the next numeral, the date hand glides through an angle of almost 90 degrees to reach the 16th, leaping across the tourbillon aperture so that the regulating organ is never hidden. It is an elegant mechanical solution to a visual problem — and a complication with real personality. The date is indicated around the dial’s periphery by a long pointer tipped with Jaeger-LeCoultre’s red JL anchor. At 9 o’clock, an aperture reveals the date-driver mechanism that triggers the jump, allowing its operation to be observed. A second opening at 2 o’clock exposes structural screws holding a wheel staff and balances the dial visually. The 24-hour disc can be adjusted independently from the main hour and minute hands through the crown. When synchronised with the local time, it serves as an AM/PM indicator; alternatively, it can display a second time zone. At 6 o’clock, the one-minute tourbillon performs two functions: it counteracts the effects of gravity on the regulating organ and carries the running-seconds indication. Its 64 components weigh less than half a gram. The automatic Jaeger-LeCoultre Manufacture Calibre 978 made its debut 20 years ago. In 2009, it won the first modern chronometry competition, a demanding 45-day trial inspired by the great observatory competitions of the 19th century. Conducted by two independent official bodies, the tests examined not only precision but also reliability during wear, including resistance to shocks and magnetism. For this 2026 interpretation, Jaeger-LeCoultre did not simply place the established movement inside a new case. Its architecture was restructured to reveal the tourbillon, 24-hour display and jumping-date mechanism through the open-worked dial. Calibre 978 now comprises 305 components and 33 jewels. It measures 30 mm in diameter and 6.45 mm in height, operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, or 4 hertz, and provides a power reserve of 45 hours. Automatic winding is provided by a full-sized rotor with a large cut-out that preserves the view of the tourbillon. Its finely finished monobloc oscillating weight is crafted from 22K pink gold. The finishing is as serious as the mechanics. Ten decorative techniques are performed across eight specialised workshops at the Manufacture, including perlage, bevelling, hand-bevelling, linear and sunray brushing, Côtes de Genève, sandblasting and diamond polishing. More than 30 components are decorated by hand, and 61 angles are hand-bevelled. Two upper bridges supporting the tourbillon and 24-hour disc are crafted from 18K white gold. Their rounded half-moon profiles are finished by hand using berçage, a demanding technique in which a burnishing file is moved in a precise rocking motion. Through the sapphire caseback, the bridges display radiating Côtes de Genève soleillé. The open-worked dial is itself made from 18K pink gold. A barleycorn guilloché pattern creates texture beneath layers of deep-blue translucent enamel, contrasted by polished pink-gold appliques and Dauphine hands. The red date pointer and red arrow on the 24-hour display provide carefully controlled accents. The 42 mm pink-gold case measures 12.5 mm in height and consists of 60 components. Polished, brushed and micro-blasted surfaces emphasise the complex Grande Tradition architecture and create a constantly changing play of light. Water resistance is rated to 5 bar. The watch is fitted with a black alligator-leather strap with small-scale alligator lining, quick-release technology and an 18K pink-gold double-folding buckle. The new A. Lange & Söhne SAXONIA ANNUAL CALENDAR brings an annual calendar, an outsize date, a highly precise moon-phase display and 491 movement parts into an elegant case measuring only 36 millimetres. In this detailed 21-minute WatchAdvisor video, Alexander presents both new 2026 versions side by side in 4K: Reference 331.026 E in 750 white gold with an argenté-coloured dial crafted from 925 silver. Reference 331.033 E in 750 pink gold with a cool grey dial, also crafted from 925 silver. Two distinct personalities. One new automatic manufacture calibre. At first glance, the SAXONIA ANNUAL CALENDAR is defined by restraint. Lange’s outsize date sits at 12 o’clock, the day of the week is displayed at 9, the month at 3, and the subsidiary seconds share the lower dial with the moon-phase display. Nothing appears crowded. Nothing is fighting for attention. Yet beneath this composed dial lies a movement comprising 491 individual parts. This is not merely the previous SAXONIA ANNUAL CALENDAR made smaller. The earlier generation measured 38.5 millimetres and used the automatic Calibre L085.1, with 476 components, 43 jewels and a 46-hour power reserve. The new model reduces the diameter to 36.0 millimetres while retaining the same 9.8-millimetre height — but increases the component count to 491, the jewels to 56 and the power reserve to 60 hours. Smaller certainly does not mean simpler. The new self-winding Lange manufacture Calibre L207.1 measures 30.4 millimetres in diameter and only 5.7 millimetres in height. It operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour, or 3 hertz, and features a shock-resistant screw balance and a balance spring manufactured in-house. Its lever escapement, lateral setscrew and whiplash spring form part of Lange’s traditional precision-adjustment system. Automatic winding is provided by a unidirectional central rotor fitted with a centrifugal mass in 950 platinum. Unlike the previous L085.1 with its three-quarter rotor and ZERO-RESET mechanism, the new calibre uses a central rotor and conventional stop seconds. The annual calendar mechanically distinguishes between months containing 30 and 31 days. Provided the watch keeps running, all indications advance correctly throughout the year. A manual correction is required only once annually: from the end of February to 1 March. A pusher at 10 o’clock advances all calendar indications collectively. The date, day of the week, month and moon phase can also be corrected individually. The moon-phase display deviates from the actual lunar cycle by only one day after 122.6 years. Its lunar disc is crafted from 750 gold, treated with a deep-blue coating and decorated with 428 stars to create a miniature Milky Way. Look more closely and the apparent simplicity reveals further layers. The three subsidiary dials are slightly bevelled inwards. Their circumferential rings feature fine azurage, while the inner sections use a more pronounced form of the same technique to create depth and changing reflections. The subsidiary-seconds dial is treated differently: its inner area retains the finer azurage to balance the visual richness of the moon phase. Even the applied baton markers have been redesigned. Their outer ends resemble the tip of a pyramid, producing controlled reflections as the watch moves. The lancet-shaped hands and appliques are crafted from 750 gold and matched to the respective case. Turn either watch over and the dial’s quiet restraint gives way to unmistakable Saxon fine watchmaking. The L207.1 incorporates 56 jewels and three screwed gold chatons. Its traditional details include plates and bridges decorated with Glashütte ribbing, a hand-engraved balance cock, blued screws and carefully polished surfaces. The calibre is decorated and assembled by hand, dismantled and then assembled for a second time. It is precision-adjusted in five positions. The sapphire crystal and transparent caseback have a Mohs hardness of 9, and the case is water-resistant to 3 bar. Reference 331.026 E combines white gold and argenté with a hand-stitched reddish-brown alligator strap featuring a graduated colour effect and a white-gold prong buckle. Reference 331.033 E pairs pink gold and grey with a hand-stitched reddish-brown alligator strap and a matching pink-gold prong buckle. A. Lange & Söhne currently lists both prices upon request. New manufacture calibre LF275.01 Inside beats the LF275.01 automatic, offering 72 hours of power reserve at 4 Hz (28,800 vph). It uses an off-centered micro-rotor winding system with a 950 platinum oscillating weight, plus a unidirectional ball bearing designed to improve resistance to shocks and vibrations. Bridges feature a horizontal satin finish with ruthenium treatment, and key elements of the micro-rotor bridge are hand-finished and mirror polished.  Dial and case details that matter The dial is slate grey with powder-grey transfers and discreet “Sport Traveller” text; the white-gold hands and indexes carry light green Super-LumiNova for legibility day and night. The titanium case combines contrasting finishes—circular satin on the bezel, polished sides, and vertical satin brushing on the case middle—matched by an integrated three-link bracelet and titanium deployant clasp.
