This Chronograph is interspersed with reminiscences to historical timepieces. Connoisseurs of fine watches will recognize them … such as the dial with white enamel finish, fine Arabic numerals and blued hands, or the minutes printed in red. A central stop second, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, into which a date window is also set, allow short time frames to be measured.
The UNG-59.S1 hand-wound calibre with 60 hours’ power reserve, developed specifically for this watch by ETA, offers extensive insights into the work of the Chronograph and gives the viewer a clear sight of the complex switch operations. The fine finishing of all components that come from Glashütte’s workshops, allows typical elements of its craftsmanship like the refined Glashütte stripe finish and perlage by hand. The silicon hairspring is an achievement of contemporary watchmaking. Thanks to the latest silicon technology, it is resistant to magnetic fields, which can have a lasting effect on the rate precision of mechanical watches.

The mechanical calendar provides the wearer with an overview of the date, weekday and month. The watch also features a 24-hour display, a small second and the traditional moon phase with progression scale. In spite of its many displays, the classic and elegant dial nonetheless remains clear and easy to read. It draws upon numerous elements of historical Glashütte pocket watches, such as the enamel white dial, the railway track chapter ring, finely applied Arabic numerals and blued hands.
The finely decorated hand-wound UNG-58.S1 calibre designed & transformed by ETA is affixed to a classic Glashütte three-quarter plate that can be admired through the sapphire glass case. An innovative feature is the hairspring made from silicon – a modern material that is insusceptible to magnetic fields. A 60-hour power reserve guarantees the autonomy you expect from such a watch. As with all movements that UNION Glashütte/SA. uses, this one is also elaborately refined, fitted and calibrated by experienced watchmakers at the brand’s own workshop in Glashütte in Sachsen.
