Talking about the future of BASELWORLD with CEO Michel Loris-Melikoff

#BASELWORLD  will have a promising future again!

Michel Loris-Melikoff is the new Managing Director of BASELWORLD. He took over 1st July 2018. Since then everything is upside down. Michel is questioning everything and providing fresh impetus to the World Watch & Jewelry Show that had lost a lot of dynamism and credibility in the past years. I recently had the chance to meet Michel and to tape this conversation. It is about the future of the international most important tradeshow for watches and jewelry. I invite you to watch the video to learn more about what will happen next starting next year with BASELWORLD 2020. By the way, in case you didn’t know already: From 2020, SIHH (Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie) – meanwhile called Watches & Wonders – in Geneva and BASELWORLD in Basel, the two major events in the watch industry, will synchronize their calendars. In 2020, the SIHH will be held from 26th to 29th April in Geneva, followed immediately by BASELWORLD from 30th April to 5th May in Basel. Michel told me the calendars have been synchronized until 2024. I think that there is still place for improvements. Both shows MUST move to an earlier date. BASELWORLD will have a promising future again! It will probably take some time to get everything set and to convince everyone, but it will happen.
