Ronnie Peterson took part in the Formula1 world championship between 1970 and 1978. He is considered as one of the most spectacular and talented pilot of his generation. It was originally given to the Swedish pilot in 1972 by Jack Heuer, when Ronnie won the red and white price Joseph Siffert, for his performance in the German Grand Prix on the Nürburgring circuit.
The back of the watch was engraved with “Success Ronnie Peterson from Jack W. Heuer”.
The original ‘Heuer Carrera’ was sold at auction in May 2016, for a breaking price of 225’000 CHF. Peterson’s Heuer is now owned by the TAG Heuer museum, which makes this a truly unique opportunity to wear a piece of racing history.
Good to know: The ‘1158CHN Carrera’ is an iconic reference within the world of watch collecting where it is also known as the ‘montre de pilote’ or ‘Driver’s Watch’. Less than 500 pieces are thought to have been produced in the early 1970s.
The 2018 replica TAG Heuer timepiece shows the same characteristics as the piece of 1972: the coussin case, the two black counters at ‘3 o’clock’ and ‘9 o’clock’, the “Côtes de Genève” champagne color dial, date window at 6 o’clock, bezel with tachymeter scale, the crown placed on the left, the inscription ‘Carrera Heuer’ as well as ‘Automatic Chronograph’, and finally the famous bracelet ‘Milanese’, who gives it a gorgeous vintage look.
