Baselworld 2017: Interview with Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO Hublot

Ricardo Guadalupe is a diligent CEO. Always busy creating new watches with his team in Nyon and traveling around the world to represent Hublot. 

You may like the brand or not. You know, I know, that there are only a few watch brands as much polarizing as Hublot does.

I do like what Hublot does and did. Why? Hublot is consequently different! 

Hublot cleverly fills niches and could therefore create its own particular style. 

Hublot is the brand that is chosen by serious and conservative watch-collectors when they look for a “crazy” wristwatch. 

Hublot is seen as a high-end luxury-brand and therefore accepted to be different and yet innovative.

For many Hublot is simply there expression of their lifestyle and therefore their preferred way to wear a mechanical wristwatch.

I already can hear some of you guys arguing already… Please stop, since it is a known fact that tastes are different! 

We have to admit that Hublot was and is often ahead of time, Hublot today offers more Swiss Made knowhow than other brands in the same price range.

You may like or not like what Hublot does, but this brand today is highly successful and desired!

Alex, like to listen to the interviews and then do some check on the Internet. I have to say Hublot reminds me of AP Offshore. Ok I like the Sage Bleu collection. The MP Collection is wired maybe technically innovative. Yes the Saphire on the Big Bang is very innovative and I can imagine very difficult to achieve in this volume. But as a consumer I would rather buy an AP then Hublot. I miss a clear independent DNA like TAG Heuer or Omega or JLC.
