WatchAdvisor.com is glad to introduce you a new series of articles aiming at improving your understanding and knowledge of the watch industry. Each week, we will have the pleasure to present in detail a brand and its collections, and in order for you to pick the watch of your dream, we will also provide a selection of our 10 favorite watches. This week, we cover a brand offering uncompromised design, function, and quality – Montblanc!

What does the Brand stand for?

In the small village of St-Imier in 1858, Charles-Yvan Robert founded a watchmaking company named Minerva. Specializing in pocket watches, the brand gained recognition and expanded rapidly. In the 20th century and after having achieved multiple accomplishments, Minerva was renowned for its highly precise stopwatches. Indeed, its timepieces were able to measure very brief intervals with impressive precision.

In 2007, Montblanc, mainly acclaimed for its pencils and leather goods thus far, decided to integrate Minerva into its network, as part of a new diversification strategy. Celebrating its 160th anniversary in 2017, Minerva really enabled Montblanc to enter the watchmaking industry and to dispose of incredible and advanced know-how and technologies.

If you are looking for a timepiece with uncompromised design, function, and quality, then Montblanc should be your new favorite brand!

About the Models

Montblanc 4810

As you may have guessed, Montblanc takes its name from the highest European mountain and the 4810 collection honors this origin, especially its altitude. Characterized by their Roman numerals and guilloche dials, the 4810's timepieces are functional and timeless, a great everyday companion.

Montblanc 1858

This collection praises the daring spirit of the pioneers of mountain exploration. Celebrating Minerva’s foundation year, the 1858 is inspired by professional watches produced between the 20s and the 30s. Made to be used in extreme climatic conditions, these timepieces adopt vintage design codes, like the original Montblanc logo, the Mont Blanc Mountain, and patina-colored indexes.

Bohème

The Bohème collection addresses itself to emancipated women. Made of elegant and discreet complications, the different models do not need to shine as they complement the confident character of their owner.

Heritage

This collection takes its inspiration from the highly accurate Minerva timepieces. It represents a splendid combination of heritage and modern expertise and technologies.

TimeWalker

The TimeWalker incarnates the spirit of racing. Designed for the urban gentleman, it is a sporty daring timepiece and possesses all the qualities you are looking for in an everyday watch, namely great readability, robustness, and a classic appearance.

Tradition

The Star is Montblanc’s most elegant collection. By interpreting the classics of watchmaking in its own way, the manufacture has been able to create elegant and timeless models. With its exclusive in-house movements and guilloche pattern, the Star has everything to shine within Montblanc’s offering.
