Finally this ultracool diver hits the markets!
The Longines Skin Diver Watch was already presented to me during Baselworld in March, but with the remark to keep it secret until the official release date. The 42 mm replica of the so called "Nautilus" diver initially presented in 1959 simply looks gorgeous. The Skin Diver Watch was one of my personal favorites of Baselworld 2018 and today still is.
Discover the 2018 Longines Skin Diver Watch together with me. I will show you pictures from the new 2018 and old 1959 diver ...
In an official statement Longines today stated: "We are breathing new life into our first diver watch, a 1959 piece that was introduced at a time when water sports were becoming extremely popular. Reliable and elegant, the model would be a great success among diving enthusiasts. The Longines Skin Diver Watch derives its essence from this emblematic timepiece that made an important mark on the company’s history."
I have to add here that the diver from 1959 was called "Nautilus". Of course the original watch was smaller than the 42 mm version of 2018. But this is acceptable since no one would have bought such a tiny watch today. The design is 1:1 the one from 1959 and today still looks great. Great job Longines!
