Frederique Constant goes Hybrid with its Hybrid Manufacture Watch

It is the first time that a manufacturer of Swiss mechanical calibres combines an in-house developed and manufactured automatic calibre with an also in-house developed, in-house produced and in-house assembled electronic part that enables the smart functions of the so called Hybrid Manufacture watch.

Frederique Constant just launched its Hybrid Manufacture watch and will show it to a greater public the first time during Baselworld 2018 in March.

Whilst being a regular mechanical, automatic wristwatch the Hybrid Manufacture watch offers Activity Tracking, Sleep Monitoring, Analytics of the mechanical calibre, a Worldtimer and a Dynamic Coach.

The Hybrid Manufacture watch will be sold for only 3250 & 3350 Euro (including 20 % VAT)!

I now invite you to discover the watch …

This is what Peter Stas, President of the Frederique Constant Group, told me when he showed me the watch last week:

“Alexander, we were the first Swiss Watch Manufacturer to introduce the Horological Smart Watch in 2015. Now, we are the first to combine a Manufacture mechanical calibre with Smartwatch functionality. Innovation was and is one of our important brand values. Since it’s beginning in 1988, the Frederique Constant brand continuously innovated. We invested massively in this domain to offer creativity and outstanding technical features in our timepieces. Every year, Frederique Constant continues to add movements to its in-house collection; and this year is no exception. Designed in keeping with classical watchmaking principles, updated with innovative 21st century techniques, the new Hybrid Manufacture by Frederique Constant combines Swiss Made fine Mechanical watchmaking with Smartwatch functionality.”

It wouldn’t be us if we wouldn’t have an extensive interview with Peter Stas… So this was just a teaser! The video-interview I taped with Peter will follow in the next days …

The Hybrid Manufacture FC-750 caliber is in-house developed, in-house produced and in-house assembled. The caliber is patented.

The mechanical part of the FC-750 is an in-house automatic caliber with date, set by the crown at 3 o’clock. Automatic winding, 28’800 A/h. Functions: hours, minutes, central second’s hand, date counter at 6 o’clock. 42h power reserve

The electronic part of the FC-750 is also in-house developed, in-house produced and in-house assembled by the brand. This electronic part of the caliber enables the Smart Functions of the Hybrid Manufacture watch.

The electronic part of the FC-750  (7+ days battery life)

The Frederique Constant Hybrid Manufacture watch offers:

Just the first model underneath is a LIMITED EDITION 888 PIECES, all the other executions shown here are sold unlimited.

The limited edition and the pink gold plated version are sold for 3350 Euro including 20 % VAT, the steel versions for 3250 Euro including 20 % VAT.

With the Frederique Constant Hybrid Manufacture watch comes this automatic watch winder and charger for the integrated smartwatch module.

The removable charger can be taken out for traveling. By a regular USB cable, the Hybrid Manufacture watch can be charged anywhere out of its wooden winder box.

This is some way the coolest function of the watch:

Inside the FC-750 calibre, Frederique Constant integrated its proprietary Calibre Analytics functionality.

This is an algorithm to measure the Rate, Amplitude and Beat Error.

The results are communicated to the Hybrid App (for Android & Apple iOS) via Bluetooth and can be seen in the form of graphs over time.

Once a day (@ 4.00 AM), the integrated analyzing tool analyzes automatically (there is no action from the user requested) the rate, amplitude and beat error of the escapement system.

Green => all is good / red => need to check the watch

If it appears that the FC-750 calibre has an issue, the owner will be informed via both the app and the cloud.

Very cool indeed! It will also challenge the watchmakers, since you as an owner of the watch will know every day how your mechanical calibre performs …

What do think guys?

Let me know!
