1815 Tourbillon Platinum by A. Lange & Söhne
The "1815 Tourbillon Platinum" (730.025) is from A. Lange & Söhne's "1815" watch family. It features a dial in rhodium solid silver and a platinum case. This piece was designed for men. The round case is 39.5mm in diameter and 11.1mm thick. The transparent case back makes it possible to watch the movement.
The watch's functions are provided by a hand-wound Lange L102.1 mechanical caliber with a power reserve of 72 hours and displays for hours (off-centered), minutes (off-centered) and seconds (off-centered). As regulating organ, the movement makes use of a tourbillon which causes the balance wheel and the escapement to rotate slowly. In the days of pocket watches, the tourbillon increased the accuracy of the watch by preventing the minute components from working with or against the gravity for a prolonged period of time. Today, the tourbillon mostly serves an aethetic and emotional purpose and is a testament of the manufacturer's watchmaking abilities.
The piece is carried on a black alligator leather strap with a platinum pin buckle.
