Ellicott

Novelties

When Edward Ellicott finally laid his watchmaker’s tools to rest at the dawn of the 20th century, he believed he was bringing to an end four generations of genius in time. His grandfather John Ellicott (1706-1772), the scientist, inventor and watchmaker to the King George III, had ranked among the most reputed British horologists of his day. But the Ellicott legend was too valuable to die. Today its finest traditions live on, flourishing in the heartland of contemporary horology, the Swiss Jura. Drawing on his experience, Pierre-André Finazzi brought the Ellicott spirit back to life with the foundation of Ellicott S.A. in La Chaux-de-Fonds. More than a comeback saga, the company reflects a meeting of minds, of talents and of visions across the centuries. So, at Baselworld 2010, Ellicott S.A. is on hand for the third time with the entries that mark the revival of Ellicott in the interpretation of a contemporary designer.
