What does the Brand stand for?
In 1884, Léon Breitling, a clever watchmaker, launched its own brand in the small town of Saint-Imier. His pioneering spirit marked the industry as he revolutionized the way watches were produced, improving and simplifying the manufacturing process. He passed on his passion for chronographs to his son, Gaston, who in 1915, presented a new chronometer movement with a pusher independent from the crown; a feature adding remarkable functionalities.
Breitling’s bond with aviation has always been strong as the brand was known for providing pilots and airlines with reliable wrist- and onboard chronographs. The manufacture is still honoring this heritage and try to push the boundaries further, willing to create the best navigation “instruments for professionals”.
Today, under the management of Georges Kern, the brand is looking at the future with confidence, knowing that it will always provide innovative timepieces while respecting the pioneering spirit of its founder.
About the Models
In 1952, Breitling presented a prototype that soon would turn into its flagship collection: the Navitimer. Deriving from the combination of the word “navigation” and “timer”, these models are Breitling’s tribute to its aviation heritage. With its famous slide rule, the dial of the Navitimer 1 is instantly recognizable, and its functionality, reliability, as well as iconic design, make this model a pilots’ favorite. After almost 70 years, the Navitimer 1 has established itself as a true icon in the watch industry, and in Breitling’s collection as well.
Launched in 2018, the Navitimer 8 is the modern translation of the brand’s iconic collection. The watch’s conception has been redesigned from start to finish to satisfy contemporary demands and prerequisites. Nevertheless, Breitling always managed to respect the DNA and technical features of the original Navitimers. With its simpler and more minimalist design, the Navitimer 8 might constitute a clue of the direction the brand is going to take in the future.
The Superocean Heritage is the brand’s tribute to diving watches. The collection is constituted of versatile models, elegant and sporty at the same time, equipped with the most modern movements that the brand can offer. With its timeless design, the Superocean Heritage is the ideal daily timepiece for the active man.
Launched in 1957, the Superocean was Breitling’s offering for professional divers. Its contemporary interpretations still keep some of the design codes of the 50s but now address itself to casual divers as well. Equipped with the essential functionalities of a diving watch, the Superocean possesses all the capabilities to become an iconic timepiece in the near future.
Elegance is the first word that comes to your mind when you look at the Premier. Launched originally in the 1940s, this collection is the one which might actually truly constitute Breitling’s mindset: the quiet force. Equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, the Premier certainly has a classic design but is never monotonous. Throughout the whole collection, you can still see that it respects the brand’s DNA, translating a pioneering spirit into its own harmonious way.
The Avenger collection redefines the exigencies in the field of pilots’ watches. Extremely safe, reliable, and robust, this watch combines professional requirements with civil needs. Its wide range of functionalities and great readability make it the perfect companion for daily life.
Originally created for the famous Italian squadron Frecce Tricolori, the Chronomat is the perfect match of two worlds: aviation and elegance. Completely redesigned in 1984, this collection fully expresses Breitling’s design code: bold and pioneering. Its sport chic allure gives the watch a versatile look, a model that will surely adapt to every situation.
The Colt was launched in the 80s and is today the entry-level collection of the brand. Being one of the most iconic collections of the brand, it truly reflects Breitling’s aviation heritage as well as the visionary spirit of its founder. The value for money of the Colt is one of its main advantages, as its reasonable price is combined with great technologies and functionalities.
As its name may suggest, this collection is not for the faint-hearted. Honoring one of the brand’s old slogan “instrument for professionals”, the Professional collection provides contemporary adventurers and explorers with a reliable, robust tool watch.
The Galactic collection symbolizes Breitling’s position in the watch industry. Indeed, the manufacture also has the abilities to present more casual timepieces. With its reasonable dimensions and elegant design, the Galactic is the everyday watch that still does not deny its roots.
