Blue is the new black! Discover two new IWC Schaffhausen Portugieser

Blue is the new black!

Something I am aware of since a while, as many of you for sure have noticed before, and something I personally very much like and support.

Still I believe there are too many black dials out there, to many black straps and even to many entire black watches.

Blue is THE elegant alternative, a color that fits perfectly with a sporty-elegant wrist-watch.

IWC was a pioneer selling watches with a blue dial. The Schaffhausen based manufacturer started doing this 50 years ago.

It was Günter Blümlein who brought back the trend “blue” in the 1990s. At the time being all IWC watches with a platinum case had a blue dial.

Today I can show two IWC Portugieser that have never before been manufactured before in the combination of a blue dial and a stainless-steel case.

The is powered by the IWC-manufactured 52010 calibre. The 42,3 mm 7 14,2 mm watch is wound by the Pellaton automatic winding system and has a 7-day power reserve (168 hours). The display at “3 o’clock” indicates how long the watch will still tick. The small seconds subdial is positioned at “9 o’clock”. A very cool watch! The stainless-steel case and the rhodium-plated hands provide a perfect contrast to the deep blue (I like the blue!) of the dial.

The ranks among the real iconic watches of IWC. Now the chronograph is available with a blue dial for the first time. With a look based on the timeless design of the Portugieser watches from the 1930s, this 40,9 mm / 12,5 mm chronograph will look good on any wrist – woman or man. The stainless-steel case and the rhodium-plated hands perfectly match with the blue dial. The chronograph is powered by an internal modified chronograph calibre from ETA.
