Maltese Summit Cross

By: Roger Ruegger

A direct descendant of the watch that was created for photographer and explorer Cory Richards in 2019, and used during his 2019 ascent of Everest, as well as the two limited-edition Overseas “Everest” models that followed in 2021, the new Overseas Dual Time Cardinal Points comes in four different colors, each representing a cardinal point on the compass: Blue (East, Ref. 7930V/210T-H074), brown (South, Ref. 7930V/210T-H072), white (North, Ref. 7930V/210T-H073 and green (West, Ref. 7930V/210T-H075).

“What resonates most deeply is the idea that we are constantly in motion. That’s what we as humans do by our very nature. Whether it’s an internal or external journey, it always leads us towards the cardinal points to guide our lives. And in doing so, we not only uncover the world, but also uncover ourselves through that action of exploration.” – Cory Richards

The Overseas Dual Time Cardinal Points features a 41-mm titanium case, measuring 12mm in height, and is water-resistant to 150 meters.

The 41-mm case, bracelet and interchangeable three-blade folding clasp are all made of titanium (Grade 5) with a matte anthracite grey finish on the bezel, crown and pusher ring. The titanium bracelet can be easily adjusted, thanks to the brand’s “Easy-fit” system. In addition, two rubber straps with interchangeable titanium folding clasp are also included: one orange with a texture inspired by the Maltese cross, the other matching the dial color with a textured pattern. Each strap can be changed without tools.

Vacheron’s in-house Cal. 5110 DT/3 offers a dual time, day/night and date indication (the orange hands are for the second time zone and the AM/PM function) and 60 hours of power reserve. The pointer-type date display at 6 o’clock is synchronized with local time, which can be adjusted by a dedicated pusher. The two time zones on 12 o’clock can be adjusted by turning the crown in either direction. The bridges of the movement were given a dark gray galvanic NAC treatment, the 22K 3N yellow gold winding rotor features the signature Overseas compass rose. The automatic movement bears the Geneva Hallmark (Poinçon de Genève).

The Overseas Dual Time Cardinal Points watches are available exclusively from Vacheron Constantin’s boutiques worldwide.
