The Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) has just published the list of competing watches for its 2026 edition. In total, 194 brands have entered 320 timepieces this year (seven are in the category “Mechanical Clocks”), that is 18 more than last year, with a whopping 62 wristwatches ending up in the “Challenge” category. Here’s what else stands out this year:
Audemars Piguet, Chopard, IWC and Louis Vuitton have each entered six timepieces (see chart below). Blancpain and Longines (with one entry each) are the only two brands from Swatch Group participating this year (Breguet, having won the “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix in 2025, can not participate in the following year). Top contenders Tudor, Van Cleef & Arpels and Voutilainen did not enter in 2026 (all three have won more than 9 trophies each in the past), same with Greubel Forsey (winner of the GPHG 2025 Mechanical Exception Prize, for example).
The majority (169) of of the participating brands entered only one or two watches (122 brands entered one watch, 47 two watches). Half (97) of the entries are from brands focusing on Switzerland as their point of origin, making the GPHG a truly international competition (second largest market to enter is China with 21 entries). As a result, watches in the competition go from CHF 37 (DWC Terra) up to CHF 1,700,000 (Blancpain Grande Double Sonnerie).
From a group perspective, LVMH (with Louis Vuitton, TAG Heuer, L’Epée, Daniel Roth and Gérald Genta) has 19 timepieces in the competition this year, representing almost 6% of all the pieces entered (compared to Swatch Group‘s 0.6% share).
The watches that made the shortlist will be announced on September 1st, the winners on November 7, 2026.
